The society offers participation in a variety of national and local, student and non-student events and contests. 2008-2009 ACTIVITIES   CONTESTCONTESTCONTESTCONTESTCONTEST NJPS, Inc. 2008-2009 Contests For Members Only Remember Unpublished Poems Only  Open "Topic" or "Theme" Deadline: January 31, 2009 Rules: Open form. Line length limited to 30 lines. One poem per page. Poems must be typed. Two copies of each poem, two with NO identification (no name, no address), the cover sheet with name & address in the upper right corner. Entry: $8.00 submission fee. May submit only one (1) poem.     Prizes: 1st - $50.00, 2nd - $25.00, 3rd - $15.00   STUDENT CONTESTS Parent signed permission slips required. Lawrence Arts Council Contest: Awards $150.00 Grant for Intermediate Grades (6th, 7th and 8th). One prize of $50.00 for each grade. ( For Lawrence Twp., NJ students only) All Students: Elvira Vittorito Memorial: Award - $30.00. $10.00 for each 3rd, 4th and 5th grade student. NJPS Inc. : Award -  $35.00 to be given for each 6th, 7th and 8th grade student. The Eugene and Gloria Landy Fund: Award - $50.00 to be given to a  12th grade student. Anne Tomer Lee: "Young Poets Contest" Categories- Grades 6-8 Award $15.00, Grades 9-12 Award $10.00   Rules for Students' Contests:To enter, students should submit one poem (2 copies) neatly typed on 8.5x11  typing paper. On one copy only, the students name, address and grade level should be typed in the upper left corner; in the upper right corner, the school name and address. The second copy should be submitted with no ID information to allow anonymous judging. Kaltovich 12 Rydal Dr. Lawrenceville, NJ  08648 Send inquiries to: luciakalt@aol.com   2009 NATIONAL MANNINGHAM STUDENT POETRY COMPETITION Each year the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Inc. invites forty-three official state poetry societies, including the New Jersey State Poetry Society, to participate in selecting finalists in the National Manningham Poetry Trust Student Competition. Prizes are awarded in two divisions: grades 6-8 and 9-12; ten finalist submissions from each division from each state are judged on the national level. First Place is $75, 2nd is $50, 3rd is $40, 4th is $35, 5th is $30 and 5 honorable mentions of $10 each.
