Remember Unpublished Poems Only

1.) Open "Topic" or "Theme"

Deadline: January 31, 2008

Rules: Open form. Line length limited to 30 lines. One poem per page. Poems must be typed. Two copies of each poem, two with NO identification (no name, no address), the cover sheet with name & address in the upper right corner.

Entry: $3.00 for the 1st poem

             $1.00 for each additional poem

             Entries limited to 5 poems per poet.

Prizes: 1st - $50.00, 2nd - $25.00, 3rd -  $15.00

2.) Jane H. McHugh Memorial Award: $100.00

3.) Carol Mohr Wimberg Award: $75.00

4.) Ellen L. Kisthard Memorial Award: $50.00

5.) Betsy Barlow Award: $50.00

 

 

STUDENT CONTESTS Parent signed permission slips required.

Lawrence Arts Council Contest: Awards $150.00 Grant for Intermediate Grades (6th, 7th and 8th). One prize of $50.00 for each grade.

Elvira Vittorito Memorial: Award - $30.00. $10.00 for each 3rd, 4th and 5th grade student.

NJPS Inc. : Award -  $35.00 to be given for each 6th, 7th and 8th grade student.

The Eugene and Gloria Landy Fund: Award - $50.00 to be given to a  12th grade student.

Anne Tomer Lee: "Young Poets Contest" Categories- Grades 6-8 Award $15.00, Grades 9-12 Award $10.00

 

Rules for all Students' Contests:To enter, students should submit one poem (2 copies) neatly typed on 8.5x11  typing paper. On one copy only, the students name, address and grade level should be typed in the upper left corner; in the upper right corner, the school name and address. The second copy should be submitted with no ID information to allow anonymous judging.

2008 NATIONAL MANNINGHAM STUDENT POETRY COMPETITION

Each year the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Inc. invites forty-three official state poetry societies, including the New Jersey State Poetry Society, to participate in selecting finalists in the National Manningham Poetry Trust Student Competition.

Prizes are awarded in two divisions: grades 6-8 and 9-12; ten finalist submissions from each division from each state are judged on the national level. First Place is $75, 2nd is $50, 3rd is $40, 4th is $35, 5th is $30 and 5 honorable mentions of $10 each.

Deadline: February 1, 2008

The Rules

1. Send two (2) poems to be blind judged by a non-member independent panel. (Don't put your name on your poems.)

2. Complete and send this entry form with your poems. (Be sure to include the title of your poems on the form.)

3. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope (#10) for notification.

4. If you'd like notification of delivery, include a stamped, self-addressed postcard.

5. Open to all members of the NJPS,Inc.

6. OK to submit previously published and award-winning poems.

7. Limit each poem to 30 lines or fewer.

8. Poems won't be returned. Keep copies for your records.

9. Entries must be postmarked on or before January 31, 2008.
